Mayville Mayor Declares State of Emergency

(MAYVILLE) Mayville Mayor Rob Boelk has declared a State of Emergency in the wake of severe storm damage that occurred on Thursday, May 15. The south side of the city has undergone substantial damage. Boelk says residential homes and factories have sustained significant destruction. As of Thursday night, the city was not aware of any injuries.

Alliant Energy was on the scene Thursday night to disconnect gas and electric services. Residents in the area whose homes were affected were urged go to the TAG Center for shelter and assistance from the Red Cross.

Boelk urged everyone to avoid the area south of Horicon Street to allow Public Works and Emergency Services to provide aid and to clean up debris. It’s unknown how long it will take to complete cleanup efforts. Boelk recommends that people whose jobs are on the South side of Mayville contact their employer.
