For the 2nd straight season the Mayville High School football team was edged by Aquinas in the WIAA Division Five State Championship Game. This time 22-14 on the back of a 27-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Flottmeyer to Collin Conzemius with just 2:04 left in the fourth quarter. The connection was the 2nd between the Blugold duo on the 2nd half. The Cardinals Blake Schraufnagel finished up a stellar high school career with 136 rushing yards on 32 carries. That included 10-yard 2nd quarter touchdown run. Mayville finishes up their season at 13-1 while Aquinas wins their 2nd straight state title with a 13-1 mark.
This was Mayville’s 6th appearance at state with their lone title coming in 1994. They were also state runner-up in 1991, 1992, 2006 and 2021.
