(Mayville) A Mayville attorney was cited for prostitution in Dodge County. According to an incident report obtained by open records request from the Mayville Police Department, Jeremy Vanderloop was issued the ordinance citation for prostitution by a Dodge County sheriff’s deputy on April 22.
According to the report, a traffic stop was conducted on two Milwaukee females in Mayville and a county deputy and a city police officer reportedly detected marijuana, found a half empty bottle of liquor and $400 dollars in cash. Neither occupant was on the rental agreement or had a valid driver’s license.
The females allegedly said they were in Mayville visiting Vanderloop, who apparently rented the vehicle for them. One said Vanderloop was a family friend who she knew for close to a year.
The investigative report states Vanderloop admitted to renting the vehicle and was aware of the two females inside. The officers were skeptical, suspecting it was a case of prostitution and noted Vanderloop (quote) “appeared to get a worried look on his face.” Vanderloop allegedly said he knew the females for about one week, meeting through a mutual friend, and the $400 dollars was for a trip to Los Angeles for one of the girls.
He denied that the money was for sex and said he did not engage in any contact with the females that night. When pressed further, Vanderloop allegedly admitted to being with a female he believed to be 22-years-old at a Mequon Hotel. He was apparently shocked when police told him the girl was 17-years-old. The investigation later revealed the girl was actually 16-years-old. Vanderloop allegedly said that he hoped to be with the females that night but the $400 was not for sex, just an incentive.
No criminal charges have been filed against Vanderloop; the prostitution citation is a municipal violation. No law enforcement action was taken by Mayville Police. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt is not commenting saying only that the investigation is ongoing. Mequon Police Sergeant Lindsay Graycarek says (quote) “it’s an ongoing investigation and they cannot comment at this time.”
Word of the citation comes at the same time Mayville Mayor Rob Boelk fired off an email to staff saying the city would no longer be working with a law firm where Vanderloop had been employed. He is no longer with that firm now and the relationship with the newly restructured law firm remains unclear. Boelk did not comment on that but regarding Vanderloop he tells DailyDodge that the report “speaks for itself.”
