Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam Raises Donate Life Flag

(Beaver Dam) Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam was among 50 organizations across Wisconsin to participate in the Donate Life Flag-Raising ceremony. The observance was held on April 6th and promoted the mission of organ, tissue and eye donation, honors organ donors and their families. The Donate Life flag, which was first introduced in 2006, will fly throughout April. In 2019, there were nearly 180 living kidney and liver donors, more than 250 deceased organ donors, over 1,100 tissue donors and more than 1,500 eye donors throughout the state. More than 800 organs were transplanted and more than 750 people were recipients of a life-saving transplant. Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam Chief Administrative Officer Angelia Foster says one donor can save eight lives and this event recognizes the more than 112,000 patients waiting for a transplant. She says nearly 1,800 of those patients live in Wisconsin. Officials with the hospital encourage people to register as an organ donor which can be done at the donatelifewisconsin.org or at a Wisconsin DMV service center.
