(Beaver Dam) Marshfield Medical Center – Beaver Dam has announced Tuesday that it is listing several homes for sale near its campus. Nine, single-family homes are for sale along South University Avenue and Webster Street.
The hospital acquired the properties years ago as they became available on the market to provide options for future potential growth. The decision to sell was the result of an organizational shift on priorities after the affiliation with Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2019. It was also due to an identified need for single-family homes in the city.
The facility’s President Angelia Foster says as they have worked closely with their community partners on numerous health and wellness initiatives, they learned how low inventory of single-family homes is a detriment to affordable housing locally. She adds that they felt this was an opportune time to re-examine their holdings and become part of the solution. Foster says they appreciate how the collaborative spirit of their community leaders and organizations has helped facilitate positive change.
Some of the houses purchased by the hospital were razed, others were used as rental properties. In addition to the homes, six other empty lots will be listed for sale.
