Markesan Voters Support School Funding Referendum, Hartford Referendum Fails

(Dodge County) There were a couple school funding referenda on area ballots Tuesday. Voters supported the Markesan School District in their efforts to secure $950-thousand dollars each year for the next four years to maintain school district programs and operations. The final vote was 586-to-297.

The Hartford Union High School District was not as fortunate in their effort to get $12-million dollars for an outdoor school facility improvement projects. That tally was 3291 โ€œyesโ€ votes compared to 4469 โ€œnoโ€ votes.

Meanwhile, in the Town of Westford, voters approved garbage collection being fully reimbursed by property owners as a special charge on their annual tax bill; the final tally 139-to-114. A second questions asking Westford voters if the Town Clerk and Town Treasurer should be appointed positions failed 107-to-143.
