Markesan Voters Support School Funding Referendum, Hartford Referendum Fails

(Dodge County) There were a couple school funding referenda on area ballots Tuesday. Voters supported the Markesan School District in their efforts to secure $950-thousand dollars each year for the next four years to maintain school district programs and operations. The final vote was 586-to-297.

The Hartford Union High School District was not as fortunate in their effort to get $12-million dollars for an outdoor school facility improvement projects. That tally was 3291 “yes” votes compared to 4469 “no” votes.

Meanwhile, in the Town of Westford, voters approved garbage collection being fully reimbursed by property owners as a special charge on their annual tax bill; the final tally 139-to-114. A second questions asking Westford voters if the Town Clerk and Town Treasurer should be appointed positions failed 107-to-143.
