Markesan Police Warn Residents Of Suspicious Incident

(Markesan) Markesan Police are warning residents after a recent suspicious incident in the city. A man came to a resident’s home claiming he was from their mortgage company and needed to go inside to inspect the home.

The owner denied him access and the man became upset. He showed the homeowner a very short and generic letter explaining why he was there. He then sat in his dark-colored SUV for a moment, took a couple of pictures of the home and left.

Police say the property owner did the right thing. They say bank or mortgage companies that need something from you would reach out in advance to schedule a meeting. If someone shows up unannounced at your residence and says they need to enter your home call police.
