Markesan Police Warn of Mail Scam

(Markesan) Markesan Police says scammers posing as a business connected with the U.S. Department of Transportation are mailing out letters to farms and businesses telling them the D-O-T numbers for their trucks and heavy equipment need to be updated. Police Chief Will Pflum (FLUM) says letters from “DotService.com” threaten deactivation and fines up to $1,000 a day. A website is given and they ask you to use your credit card to pay processing fees. He says Wisconsin’s Department of Motor Vehicles confirms the letters are not legit.
