(Waupun) A man who took another person’s vehicle in Waupun was given a year-and-a-half in prison. Andrew Davis entered a guilty plea to a felony count of Theft of Moveable Property.
He was originally charged with Robbery with Use of Force but that was amended to Theft in recent weeks. A felony count of Strangulation was dismissed but read into the record.
Law enforcement was called to 241 South Madison Street last March for a report of a victim who was assaulted, and their vehicle stolen. The complainant identified Davis as the assailant.
Davis had asked for a ride, but the victim said no because the 29-year-old stole his truck a week prior. The victim was able to locate the stolen vehicle and recover it. On the day of the incident, Davis put the victim in a head lock and wrestled him to the ground.
The victim reported that he began to lose consciousness when Davis took his keys and drove off in his vehicle. Davis was also placed on extended supervision for 18 months.
