(BEAVER DAM) A domestic abuse investigation in the Beaver Dam area turned into a cold-weather search Monday morning, ending with a man taken into custody several hours later.
Dodge County sheriff’s deputies began investigating the reported domestic abuse incident in the early morning hours in the town of Beaver Dam. After speaking with the victim, deputies went to the scene to locate the suspect but learned he had left on foot.
With temperatures dangerously low and concern growing for the man’s safety, deputies expanded their search and set up incident command. An emergency alert was sent to nearby residents, asking them to watch for the man as the search continued.
Just after 9 a.m., deputies located the suspect and took him into custody. Authorities said he was not injured.
The Dodge County District Attorney’s Office is expected to review charges that include felony false imprisonment, felony intimidation of a victim, misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. All potential charges carry domestic abuse penalty enhancers, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Beaver Dam Police Department assisted with the investigation and search.
