Man Flown To UW Hospital After Being Hit By Truck In Beaver Dam

(Beaver Dam) A pedestrian was hit by a truck in Beaver Dam Wednesday morning. First responders were dispatched to the 500 block of West Burnett Street around 7:30am. The initial investigation shows that a 34-year-old man was working next to his work trailer that was parked on the south side of the roadway. An eastbound Dodge Dakota driven by a 16-year-old teen struck the trailer and the man. The 34-year-old was knocked down and ran over prior to the truck coming to a stop. He was transported to the Marshfield Medical Center – Beaver Dam before being flown to UW Hospital by Med Flight. Police Chief John Kreuziger says that the sun may be one of the contributing factors in this crash. He urges all drivers to slow down during their morning commute as well as any other time they are unable to see due to the sunlight. Kreuziger says there was almost a secondary crash at the same location due to the sunlight. Beaver Dam police did respond to another crash about 15 minutes earlier on East Third Street where the driver could not see due to the sun and struck a parked vehicle.
