Man Dies Of Apparent Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound Following Tactical Incident In Green Lake County

(Berlin) A person died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound following a tactical incident in Green Lake County Wednesday. Sheriff’s deputies received reports around 11:30am from a woman stating her ex-boyfriend was in her home in Berlin and was not supposed to be there.

As law enforcement was responding to the scene, the male subject left the residence. Around five minutes after authorities reached the home deputies heard a single gunshot approximately a quarter mile away. A search for the individual lasted several hours, utilizing the sheriff’s office Combined Tactical Unit.

A drone did locate the man, who was found deceased, along the banks of the river northeast of the Mascoutin Golf Course. Authorities confirmed the man as the same person from the trespassing complaint. His body was recovered with assistance from a civilian and his boat capable of navigating the narrow and shallow waters with assistance from Green Lake County Sheriff’s detectives.

The name is being withheld pending notification of family.
