(Beaver Dam) A number of students from local school districts will be competing in Friday’s SkillsUSA Wisconsin regional competition. Founded in 1973, SkillsUSA Wisconsin is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry representatives working together to ensure America has the skilled workforce needed to stay competitive.
The diverse talent pipeline covers 120 trade, technical, and skilled service occupations, mostly related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. More than 250 individuals will compete including students from Beaver Dam, Fall River, Watertown, and Hartford.
Some of the categories that students will be competing in include 3D printing, carpentry, welding, electronics technology, prepared speech, plus many more.
Those who place in the regional competition will advance to participate in the 52nd SkillsUSA Wisconsin State Leadership and Skills Conference in Madison this April. Today’s regional competition is taking place at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
