(Beaver Dam) The public will have an opportunity on Saturday (4/6) to see the award-winning play of a Beaver Dam writer whose work is entered in a regional competition in Indiana. Rick Ramirez wrote the one-act piece entitled โOne Day,โ which picked up several recognitions at the Wisconsin Association of Community Theatreโs WACT Fest 2019 in Verona earlier this year.
Ramirez, who entered the play on behalf of the Columbus Red Bud Players, won for Excellence In Playwriting. Lead actor Mega Scullin (skull-in) picked-up an award for Excellence In Acting while James McMillan and Cynthia Klawitter earned nods for Excellence In Supporting Acting.
The play is based on stories Ramirez heard from his mother about his grandparents. The production will be competing in the American Association of Community Theatreโs Regional Festival in Kokomo, Indiana next weekend. To raise money for the cast and crew to travel to the event, there will be one performance of One Day at the new Beaver Dam Area Community Theatreโs Fine Arts Center Saturday at 7:30pm.
