(Beaver Dam) This week’s unwelcomed winter storm led to an unexpected vehicle crash in Beaver Dam. According to a release from the Beaver Dam Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of Prospect Avenue and Cleveland Street Tuesday for a vehicle crash with injuries.
They discovered that heavy snow and bad weather caused a large tree branch to break off. The branch fell on top of a vehicle that was driving past, operated by Jack Rudie.
Family of Rudie’s tells Daily Dodge that there is a small sliver of irony to this story. When Rudie graduated from high school, he got a job in forestry as a tree trimmer. The family says Rudie does plenty of storm work and tree clearance for power restoration and was out most of the day clearing lines.
They also note that Rudie used a different route home from work that day in order to bypass Highway 33. Authorities say Rudie was able to be safely removed from the vehicle after the tree limb fell on top of it and sustained non-life-threating injuries.
The vehicle, however, suffered significant damages.
