(OSCEOLA) A Kewaskum woman has died after a rollover crash Monday morning in Fond du Lac County.
The sheriff’s office says Joan Biese, 57, died after being taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries following the crash along U.S. Highway 45 in the Town of Osceola.
Deputies and emergency crews were called to the scene just before 11 a.m. after multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle had rolled over and the driver was trapped and not responsive. A deputy, with help from two bystanders, pulled Biese from the vehicle and started CPR when she wasn’t breathing. Officials say she later began breathing on her own before paramedics took over care.
She was taken by ambulance to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah after a medical helicopter could not respond because of the weather.
Investigators say Biese was driving south on Highway 45 when her vehicle left the road, hit a driveway embankment and overturned. Authorities believe she may have suffered a medical issue before the crash.
Highway 45 was closed for about 45 minutes between County Highway F and County Highway W while crews responded. The crash remains under investigation.
