Juneau Woman Given Prison Time For Fleeing Police

(Waupun) A Juneau woman was sentenced to 13 months in prison for running from Waupun police. Michelle Hayes entered a no contest plea to a felony charge of Fleeing. A Waupun officer spotted a vehicle in February with its rear window obstructed by snow and was not operating with the required lights during limited visibility. The officer engaged their emergency lights but the vehicle began accelerating away on Highway 151, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles-per-hour. Authorities learned that Hayes was the driver during the pursuit, which ended when the vehicle rolled over in an embankment near County Road C. Police heard Hayes tell staff of an ambulance that responded that she did not want to get pulled over so she ran. The 37-year-old was also placed on extended supervision for two years.
