(Juneau) The Juneau Fire Department had a busy year in 2024. The department responded to a total of 124 calls. Chief Ed Weiss says a majority of those calls were car accidents.
“I think structure fires, it’s right around 12 or 14, that’s usually our average,” Weiss says. “Like I said, it’s not just the Juneau Fire District, but that’s where we get our mutual aid out to other areas for fires.”
The chief says when it comes to mutual aid, it is as simple as giving a call.
“They have a set alarm system,” says Weiss. “So it’s all preplanned, who comes, what apparatus they bring and is the same result that Dodge County, we’re all mutual aid with each other. We have an agreement.
Weiss says the aid is helpful in case any extra tools or staff are needed.
