(JACKSON) Four international students in Washington County can now play soccer for their high school team, thanks to a judge’s order.
The boys are originally from Tanzania. They were attending high school and playing soccer in Milwaukee before they transferred to Living Word Lutheran High School in Jackson. But that was less than a year ago. According to the WIAA handbook, that makes them ineligible.
But a judge’s ruling Wednesday means the boys can play for the team for now. They’ve missed ten games already. There are only five games left in the season. The injunction is temporary and could change. The next hearing in the legal case is scheduled for Oct. 31.
