(Beaver Dam) Dodge County Circuit Court Judge Martin De Vries has announced that he is seeking a second term. De Vries was appointed in 2016 to fill the Branch Two seat of retiring Judge John Storck. He then successfully ran for the position in April of 2017. De Vries graduated from Central Wisconsin Christian High School in Waupun, Dordt University and Valparaiso University School of Law.
Since taking the bench, De Vries says he has worked hard to render fair but firm decisions which take into account the big picture of each person appearing before him. In addition to criminal, juvenile, family, civil and probate cases, he presides over the Dodge County Impaired Driving Court, which involves treatment for persons convicted of driving while under the influence.
During his time on the bench, Judge De Vries has been involved in community activities such as mock trial and Dodge County Shop With Cops. De Vries – who has seven children – lives in Randolph with his wife and daughter. The spring election is slated for April 4, 2023.
