7/18/11 – Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin says he’s more likely to work with House Republicans than his own Senate leadership when it comes to the federal debt ceiling. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has suggested compromising with the President to avoid defaults on government securities, but House Republican are demanding no such compromises. They also want repeals of federal health care reform as a condition for increasing the debt ceiling. Johnson says the federal government needs to make cuts in regulatory agencies like the EPA. And, he wants to eliminate the Dodd-Frank Law, which is aimed at getting rid of reckless Wall Street business practices.
