(Beaver Dam) John Moser was laid to rest Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Moser passed away on January 14, two weeks after he retired from a radio career that spanned six decades. He started on WBEV in 1973 spending the majority of that time alongside Bill McCollum on the morning show.
โHe always had my back,โ McCollum said at Moserโs memorial service at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, โWhen it came to giving praise to John, he always deflected it, he always gave the praise to someone else; John had a huge heart.โ
Good Karma Brands Founder and CEO Craig Karmazin met Moser when he purchased WBEV in 1997.
โWas John an on-air guy, was he a sales guy, was he a manager,โ Karmazin asked, โJohn ultimately was a community organizer, thatโs what he loved the best, he loved bringing people together.โ
Moserโs obituary touches upon some of the volunteer work he did in the community:
โJohn began his community involvement in the mid โ90โs, serving on the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce board of directors, graduated from the Chamberโs first Leadership Training Program, โLeaderquestโ and served as Chairman of Beaver Dam Chamber in 2000. He held a number of leadership roles in a variety of community organizations, including President of the Beaver Dam Community Hospital Foundation, and President of the Beaver Dam Lake Development Corporation. He was a board member of Church Health Services and a member of the Beaver Dam Lake Improvement Associations Lake Management Committee. John was also a long time member of the Beaver Dam Rotary Club and looked forward to โFlipping Burgersโ in the Rotary booth at the county fair. He was also asked to MC many community events and fund raisers. John was named the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.โ
He is survived by his wife Sue, daughter Chelsea Henkel and step daughter Shannon Neu. John Moser was 72.
