Jobless Filings In Region Dipped Slightly

(Dodge County) Jobless filings in the region dipped slightly from February to March. In Dodge County, the number was unchanged at 3.1-percent, which according to the state Department of Workforce Development is one-tenth lower than March of last year. In Columbia and Jefferson counties, the unemployment rate last month was at 3.2-percent, down two-tenths from February. Fond du Lac County was at 2.8-percent last month while Washington County was at 2.7-percent, both down one-tenth over the two-month period. Green Lake County dropped six-tenths from February to 4.2-percent. Dane County had the state’s lowest rate in March at 3.2-percent while Iron and Bayfield counties were tied for the highest rate at 6.9-percent. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Wisconsin last month was 2.9-percent while the national rate was 3.8-percent.
