Jobless Claims In Region Held Steady In August

(Dodge County) Jobless claims held steady in the region from July to August. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County last month was 3.3-percent, the same number it was in July but still well below the 4.6-percent logged last August. The county was ranked 12th in Wisconsin for unemployment rates, up two spots from where they were in July. Fond du Lac County also saw no change in their rate from July to August, which is at 3.5-percent. In 2020, the figure was at 4.6-percent. There was a one-tenth decrease in Columbia County as last month saw a 3.3-percent, one year after they experienced a rate of 5.1-percent. Jefferson County is reporting a rate of 3.4-percent, which is what it was in July. The county’s unemployment rate last August was 4.8-percent. Statewide jobless numbers held stead over the three-month period at 3.9-percent, well below the national rate of 5.2-percent.
