Illinois Man Given Probation For Fleeing Dodge County Authorities

(Brownsville) An Illinois man was convicted Tuesday of running from Dodge County authorities. James Cochrane entered a plea of no contest to a felony count of Fleeing. His sentence was withheld and the 35-year-old was placed on two years of probation.

The marshall of the village of Brownsville clocked a vehicle speeding two years ago on Main Street. After activating their emergency lights, the suspect vehicle increased its speed and reached 83 miles-per-hour as it exited the Horicon Marsh.

The chase continued towards Waupun where an officer successfully deployed a tire deflation device which disabled the vehicle. Cochrane was identified as the driver and said he kept driving because he did not want another ticket.

He also told law enforcement that he wanted to make a (quote) โ€œfiascoโ€ and wanted to be the highlight of their day.
