Husty Boys Host Sectional Semifinal Tonight

The Hustisford boys baskeball team hosts Stockbridge tonight in a WIAA Division 5 Boys Basketball Sectional Semifinal at 7pm.

The Falcons (Overall: 14-3, Trailways West 5-1) finished as the runner-up in the Trailways West behind league champ Lourdes Academy.  Husty was ranked #1 in the final Wissports.net Division 5 boys basketball poll of the season.   Senior Dylan Kuehl leads the Falcons offense averaging 22.6 points per contest.  Junior Gavin Thimm (14.9) and senior Alex Eggelston (10.3) also average in double figures for head coach Otto Hopfinger.  Husty advanced to the Sectional with a 77-35 win over Fall River in the Regional Semifinals and a 59-53 triumph over Cambria-Friesland in the Regional Final.

Stockbridge (21-3) ride a twelve game win streak into tonight’s contest.  The Indians do not play in a conference, instead plays an independent schedule.  Stockbridge is led by a trio of seniors including; Jake Willett (18.9ppg), Aaron Bunnell (14), and Zach Daun (11.8).   They won the Regional championship with wins over Young Coggs (105-91) and Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah.    Stockbridge was ranked #8 in the final Wissports.net Division 5 boys basketball poll.

The winner of tonight’s game will face either Shullsburg or Monticello on Saturday in the Sectional Final with a trip to state on the line.
