Husticon Falls In State Semifinals

The Horicon-Hustisford football team’s season came to an end on Friday night with a 58-14 loss at the hands of two-time defending Division Five state champion Aquinas at Wisconsin Dells in the state semifinals.  

The Blugolds jumped out on the Marshafalcons to take a 22-0 lead after the first quarter on a pair of short touchdown runs by David Malin and a 41 yards touchdown pass from Jacob Thornton to Trey Bahr.  

Husticon tried to get back into the game early in the 2nd quarter as Alex Davis plunged in from one yard out to make it 22-7.  A three yard TD run by Brady Lehner pushed the Aquinas lead to 30-7 at the half.   Tyson Martin’s seven yard jaunt in the 3rd extend the Aquinas lead to 38-7 with 10:48 left in the 3rd.  Horicon-Husty came right back as Isaac Howard made it 38-14 with a two yard run with 8:57 remaining in the 3rd.   Aquinas exploded for three more scores in the 3rd quarter (Malin 28 yard run, Thronton 45 yard psss to Becker, and Kliar 1 yard run) to make it 58-14 heading to the 4th, which is how the game finished.

Isaac Howard finished the game with 52 rushing yards and one touchdown.  Alex Davis ran for 40 yards and a TD.  Carter Schwartz completed 13 of 27 passes for 176 yards.  AJ Bushkie caught seven passes for 102 yards.   Caleb Peplinski hauled in six passes for 74 yards.

Horicon-Hustisford finishes their season at 10-3 while Aquinas (12-1) will look for their 3rd straight WIAA Division Five State Champion on Thursday when they face Wrightstown at 4pm at Camp Randall Stadium.
