(Horicon) A Horicon woman was recently recognized for her work caring for children in foster care.
The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families honored six adoptive families by presenting them with the 2023 Governor’s Outstanding Adoptive Parent Award.
Tracy Verbeten of Horicon was selected for her dedication to more than a decade to being both an adoptive and foster parent. She has adopted four children and works tirelessly to ensure each child makes it to their sports, activities, and appointments.
In addition to creating a loving home, Verbeten works to positively maintain connections with their biological families post adoption.
Nominations for the awards were received from adoption professionals, children’s advocates, and citizens from across the state who wanted to recognize the incredible families who have opened their homes to children in need of lifelong care and stability.
The recipients were chosen based on their stories of exceptional dedication, compassion, and willingness to support both new and existing relationships for their children.
