(Horicon) A Horicon school board member was recently honored for his commitment to professional development. David Westimayer earned Level 5 recognition, the highest available, from the Wisconsin Association of School Boards.
This was achieved by attending the Association’s training opportunities focused on improving student achievement and public education. The Wisconsin Association of School Boards Member Recognition Program tracks the professional development of board members, who may be awarded one of five achievement levels based on a point system.
Level 5 recognition is limited to the most active school board members in the state, a mark reached this year by only eight of the 2,800-plus school board members statewide. Board members with Level 5 recognition have gone far beyond the requirements of membership to support the students in their community.
The Wisconsin Association of School Board Executive Director Dan Rossmiller says board members begin their service with a desire to help children in their community reach their potential. He adds that Westimayer has backed up that aspiration with hard work and dedication to learn how to be the best school board member he can be. Rossmiller notes that he is an example of the best school board service in Wisconsin.
