(HORICON) Leaders in Horicon will be looking into the increase of electric scooters on city sidewalks. Mayor Josh Maas says currently nothing is on the books to enforce or manage them.
Maas says he has seen people riding scooters not stopping at stop signs and being on sidewalks dedicated to walkers and joggers. There have also been reports of near-incidents across town including on Walnut, Clark, and Cedar Streets.
The mayor notes that the city’s police department and Public Safety Committee will be sifting through ordinances in neighboring communities to see what similar enforcement action exists.
He adds that they have no intention of being the (quote) “no fun police” but citizens should not have to dive out of the way on sidewalks either.
