Heintz, Golden Beavers Embark On New Journey Against Orioles

Just over 10 months removed from a sectional finals appearance, the Beaver Dam softball team, and their new coach, are turning the page.

The Golden Beavers will step onto their home diamond to host their first game of 2025, as the Hartford Orioles roll into Dodge County for a non-conference matchup.

Starting 2025 With a Bang

Beaver Dam opened the regular season on the road with a 22-11 thumping of Fond du Lac this past Tuesday.

Flexing their muscles with 16 hits and 11 walks, the Golden Beavers managed to score in every single inning.

First year head coach Quinn Heintz said he was impressed with his team’s approach at the plate.

“We were patient,” Heintz said. “[That’s] kind of what you’ll see from us. We’ll be patient, and our goal is to have great at bats.”

A prolific doesn’t come without a strong top of the order. Emma Julka, Kendall Fakes and Aubrey Abfall combined to go 8-for-14 with 11 runs scored and 11 RBI.

Chloe Kasuboski smacked the first home run of the season, and by the end of the sixth inning, Beaver Dam tallied their first win via the 10-run rule.

New Season, New Coach!

Heintz takes over the program in place of Abby Schmitt, who was guiding the softball team from 2018-2024.

In 2024, you could find Coach Heintz encouraging the Hortonville Polar Bears from their dugout.

Leading that squad to a 16-11 record and a combined .312 batting average and serving as the Wisconsin Bandits field manager in the past, the skipper brings a plethora of experience to Beaver Dam.

When the stars aligned for Heintz to coach spring ball in Dodge County, he said it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

“Coming back to Beaver Dam was more of a personal move than anything,” he said. “It just kind of fell into place with the job opening.”

What To Know For Friday

The Golden Beavers take on the Orioles at 5 PM.

The game will be broadcast on Daily Dodge TV and 1430 ESPN Beaver Dam with the pregame show starting at 4:45 PM.
