Head Of Union Representing Waged Employees In Negotiation Talks With John Deere Optimistic About The Outcome

(Horicon) The president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union Local Lodge 873, Darrel Schepp says he believes negotiations with the John Deere Horicon Works and waged union employees could stretch into September or even October.  While no one knows what the future will hold, he says he is optimistic.

Talks with the Horicon Manufacturer began last week.  Schepp says the union is seeking a fair contract for the nearly eight hundred employees represented at the facility.  He adds there are several items on the list being strived for including better wages, better hours, better and safer working conditions, and better benefits.

Contract negotiations for John Deere’s 14 other facilities last year took well into October before an agreement was met, seeing over 10,000 employees go on strike. The current contract expires on October 1st.
