Governor Pardons Hartford Man

(Hartford) A Washington County man was pardoned by the governor. Tony Evers recently announced another 25 pardons, bringing the total number of granted pardons to 416 since 2019.

Among the 25 pardons was Joseph Anny, who currently lives in Hartford. When Anny was 26-years-old, he was found in possession of a controlled substance. Years later, Anny sold a firearm to an outdoors retail company when he was not supposed to be in possession of it.

Evers, who has granted more pardons during his first three years in office than any other governor, says he is proud to recognize the hard work these individuals have done in their communities. He says his office looks forward to continuing to grant pardons in the future.

The Wisconsin Constitution grants the governor the power to pardon individuals convicted of a crime. A pardon is an official act of forgiveness that restores rights lost when someone is convicted of a felony, including the right to serve on a jury, hold public office, and hold certain professional licenses. However, a pardon does not expunge court records.
