The Beaver Dam Golden Beavers served up a 48-0 shutout against the Fort Atkinson Blackhawks in their season-opener tonight.
After going 9-2 with their first conference title since 1983, head coach Brock Linde’s squad eradicated any thought that this group of new faces couldn’t dominate an opponent.
Beaver Dam (1-0) recovered a fumble from Fort Atkinson (0-1) on the opening drive, and the offense immediately capitalized. Jaxon Ladron tossed the first touchdown of his varsity career to Max Moritz on a 15-yard connection just two minutes into the season.
After that, the Parker Blank show began.
Blank rushed for a one-yard score with 5:42 to go in the first quarter.
The barrage continued with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Blank with 1:31 to go in the opening stanza to make it 21-0 Beavers; this was the second score in a row where the senior running back was untouched before breaking the plane.
Blank’s third touchdown came on a one-yard rush with 33 seconds remaining before the halftime break.
The halftime break was the only thing stopping Blank’s momentum, as his 11-yard score on the ground made it 35-0 early in the third quarter.
Sophomore Brock Hiley punched in a score from two yards to make the score 41-0 with 3:54 to go in the third; Hemling’s PAT missed wide.
Asante Selken’s 3-yard punch-in score made the score 48-0, where it would remain until the clock showed triple zeros.
The Golden Beavers outgained the Blackhawks 377-90.
Ladron went 4-for-8 with 47 yards, a touchdown and an interception in his first varsity start.
Blank took the starting running back job by the horns and, well, ran with it. His 15 carries for 135 yards and four touchdowns highlighted a dominant ground game. Kodiak Kocinski made the most of his touches, taking seven rushes for 97 yards.
The Golden Beavers will shift their focus to Menomonee Falls next Friday. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 PM on both Daily Dodge TV and 1430 ESPN Beaver Dam.
