Golden Beavers Roll By Baraboo

The Beaver Dam High School football team rolled by Baraboo 35-7 on Friday night on Military and First Responders Appreciation Night at HH Derleth Field.   QB Eli Bryant connected with Jeff Freund on a 36-yard TD pass on the first play from scrimmage and never looked back.  Late in the first quarter Bryant tossed 16-yard strike to Brandon Morrissey to make it 14-0.  With 5:21 left in the 2nd, Bryant ran one in from 10 yards out, pushing the lead to 21-0 heading to the halftime locker room.   Bryant fired his 3rd TD pass of the night with 3:25 left in the 3rd quarter when he found Zach Schave in the back corner of the end zone from seven yards out.   Early in the 4th Josiah Barnes put BD up 35-0 with four -yard TD run.   Baraboo found the end zone with 6:02 left in regulation as Jackson Puttkamer plunged in from four yards out.

The Beaver Dam defense twice turned back Baraboo from scoring opportunities, forcing a fumble inside the 35, and also caused a fumble on the goal line that rolled out of the end zone for a touchback.

The Golden Beavers outgained the T-Birds 350-235.   184 of Baraboo’s yards were on the ground while BDHS churned out 99 rushing yards, led by Josiah Barnes’ 81 yards.   Bryant ended the day 16-23 for 244 yards and 3 TDs.  Freund caught 6 passes for 112 yards and a TD.  Ashtyn Seifert five receptions for 72 yards. 

Beaver Dam (2-0) will travel to Mount Horeb/Barneveld next week while Baraboo (0-2) opens up Mississippi Valley play at Tomah.
