(Neosho) Over 2,000 people turned out for the 43rd annual Dodge County Dairy Brunch at the Gault Farm near Neosho on Sunday. Guests to the farm were able to enjoy a country brunch and tour the facility that milks around 300 cows daily with an automated milking system. Dawn Gault says events like the dairy brunch are a great way to showcase the importance of agri-business.
“So many people are so far removed from farming,” says Gault. “Years ago, you always had a grandpa or an uncle or somebody who was in the diary business that you knew, ‘oh yeah, I know what goes on at a farm.’ I had a cousin bring her son out three-or-four years ago because he asked her once, ‘mom, are farms real?’ Because he was just so far removed…it was just something he’d never seen.”
Dodge County Dairy Ambassador Brenda Conley says they served 2,370 and had to turn away people because they ran out of food. She adds that their committee thanks everyone who joined them and to the Gault family for hosting. The Gault Family also hosted the Dodge County Dairy Brunch eleven years ago.
