(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam School District officials are reminding the community that they are offering free meals to children this summer. The Summer Food Service Program, which launched locally six years ago, provides meals to kids during the summer months when free and reduced-price school meals are typically unavailable.
The program is available to any person 18 years or younger and persons 19 or older with a physical or mental disability. Meal distribution is held at Waterworks Park in Beaver Dam every Monday through Thursday from 11am to 12:30pm. The program goes until August 11th.
The district’s Business Manager Ann-Marie Malkovich says this program fills a void created when school lunches are not available. She says helping parents meet the nutritional needs of their children is the strength of this program.
School officials note that meals are provided to eligible children regardless of race, color, national origin, age, gender or disability and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
