Free Car Seat Checks Aim to Keep Kids Safer on the Road

(WAUPUN) Many parents think their child’s car seat is installed correctly — but most aren’t.

That’s why SSM Health and local partners are offering free car seat safety checks in Waupun, giving families a chance to make sure their kids are properly protected.

Certified technicians will be on site to inspect car seats, help install them correctly, and answer questions about when to move from one type of seat to another. The event will offer free car seats for families who may not be able to afford one.

The goal is to prevent injuries and save lives.

Car crashes remain a leading cause of injury for children, and safety experts say proper car seat use can make a critical difference. Still, about four out of five car seats are used or installed incorrectly.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon May 19 at the Waupun Public Library.

Families are asked to bring their child, car seat, instruction manual, and vehicle owner’s manual to get the most out of the appointment.

Space is limited, and registration is required.
