Fox Lake Newspapers Digitized

10/16/17 – The entire newspaper history of Fox Lake has been digitized. Reels of old Fox Lake news stories are now on Newspapers.com which is affiliated with Ancestry.com. That includes the Fox Lake Gazette, which was printed from 1858-to-1865, and the Fox Lake Representative, which was active from 1866-to-2014. Fox Lake Public Library Friends Group President Julie Flemming says the website is available by subscription but there is a way to access the database at no cost. She says they received a file of the digitized articles from Newspapers.com which can be accessed on the computers at the public library for three years. Flemming says once the three years are up the service will be offered by subscription which may cost the library upwards of $1000 a year. It would have to be determined at that time if the library will budget to continue access to the database.
