Former Jefferson County Man Given Federal Prison Time For Attempted Child Enticement

(Jefferson) A former Jefferson County man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for attempted child enticement. Marc Bennett, formerly of Jefferson, began using popular online platforms in January to communicate with a 12-year-old girl. During these interactions, the 43-year-old requested graphic images and expressed his desire to have sex.

In February, Bennett – who was a former Wisconsin Department of Administration employee – travelled to Manitowoc where he believed the child lived. When he arrived, he was arrested by an undercover police officer. Bennet immediately displayed his State of Wisconsin Department of Administration work badge and claimed he was attempting to save a victim of human trafficking.

Bennett will also serve five years of supervised release following his prison sentence.
