Former Dodge County Village Clerk Accused of Stealing More Than $280K From Neosho

(NEOSHO) A former clerk who managed finances for a Dodge County village is accused of stealing more than $280,000 from the community she served.

Deanna B. Braunschweig, the former clerk and treasurer for the Village of Neosho, is charged with two counts of misconduct in public office and two counts of theft in a business setting, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Dodge County District Attorney.

According to a criminal complaint, she allegedly took more than $280,000 from the Village of Neosho between October 2018 and September 2025.

Authorities also say Braunschweig improperly used a credit card from another village where she worked.

The complaint alleges Braunschweig used a Village of Chenequa credit card to pay more than $3,500 toward a past-due waste and dumpster bill for the Village of Neosho. Investigators also say she used the card to pay an internet bill connected to Neosho.

Braunschweig previously served as clerk and treasurer for both the Village of Neosho in Dodge County and the Village of Chenequa in Waukesha County.

Authorities arrested Braunschweig on Thursday, March 12, and booked her into the Dodge County Jail. A signature bond was set at $5,000 during her initial appearance in court Friday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 23.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation led the investigation. The Dodge County District Attorneyโ€™s Office is prosecuting the case.
