Former Columbus Baseball Organization Treasurer Charged in Alleged $49,000 Theft Investigation

(COLUMBUS) A former Columbus Baseball Organization treasurer is facing felony charges following a months-long investigation into the alleged misappropriation of nearly $49,000 from the organization.

According to the Columbus Police Department, the investigation began in December 2025 after members of the Columbus Baseball Organization (CBO) contacted authorities regarding financial irregularities involving the organizationโ€™s former treasurer. The individual had served in the role from 2021 through 2025.

Police said an initial review confirmed concerns about missing funds, prompting a formal investigation that lasted approximately five months. During that time, investigators obtained numerous subpoenas for financial records, business records and purchase histories, reviewing a substantial amount of paper and digital documentation.

On May 13, the Columbus Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in Columbus. During the search, officers seized more than 60 items from the home.

Authorities arrested Paul T. Corrado, 50, of Columbus in connection with the investigation.

Corrado was charged Thursday afternoon in Columbia County Circuit Court with felony theft in a business setting involving between $10,000 and $100,000, as well as felony theft of movable property valued between $2,500 and $5,000.

Investigators allege the misappropriated funds were diverted in multiple ways, including a significant number of Amazon purchases for personal use. Police also said several CBO checks were written to a limited liability corporation registered to Corrado, deposited into the LLCโ€™s account and later transferred into personal bank accounts.

Additionally, investigators identified CBO funds allegedly being directed to two non-CBO baseball teams with which Corrado was affiliated.
