Fond du Lac Police Recover Two Stolen Vehicles, Arrest Two Teens After Early-Morning Chase

(FOND DU LAC) Two 17-year-old boys are in custody after Fond du Lac police recovered two stolen vehicles early Friday morning following a short chase and search effort.

Around 3:57 a.m., officers were called to the Comfort Inn on Holiday Lane for a report of a stolen Dodge Ram pickup. Using the cityโ€™s Flock Safety camera system, police tracked the truck near East Johnson Street and Highway 151.

When officers tried to pull it over, the driver sped off โ€” leading a brief pursuit through the area. The chase ended a few blocks later when the truck hit a curb near East Division Street. Two people ran from the vehicle, but police quickly set up a perimeter and used a drone to search.

Officers found the driver, a 17-year-old Fond du Lac boy, near Ledgeview Lanes and took him into custody. He was taken to a hospital for medical clearance.

Police then discovered the silver sedan that had stopped near the chase scene was also stolen overnight from South Bell Street โ€” a theft that hadnโ€™t yet been reported. Officers found a cellphone and bank card inside that helped them identify another suspect.

Around 7:50 a.m., police arrested the second 17-year-old boy on South Boardman Street.

Chief Aaron Goldstein said both thefts could have been prevented.

โ€œThese were crimes of opportunity where vehicles were left unlocked with keys inside,โ€ Goldstein said. โ€œWe urge everyone to take simple, consistent steps to protect their property โ€” remove your keys, lock your vehicles, and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight.โ€

The Fond du Lac County Sheriffโ€™s Office and Fond du Lac Fire Rescue assisted in the response. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
