(Fond du Lac) The Fond du Lac County sheriff is commending his drone team for their work in apprehending two suspects who were on the run. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says the two Green Bay men eluded authorities Friday afternoon by driving their vehicle a half mile into the Eldorado Marsh.
He says they then fled on foot but were not able to escape their drone team who used thermal cameras to locate the suspects. The drones then hovered over their location so deputies on foot could navigate the rough marsh terrain and apprehend them.
Waldschmidt says this was a great example of leveraging technology and partnerships to “get the job done.” Both suspects are facing charges of First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and Fleeing.
