(Byron) Fond du Lac County authorities pursued a vehicle for over eight miles early Monday morning. A sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop for reckless driving in the town of Byron around 4:15am.
The suspect vehicle increased its speed and continued northbound on Interstate 41. The chase came to an end as the suspect failed to negotiate a curve south of Highway OO and the vehicle slid into a steep shoulder where it became immobile.
A high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and the driver and a passenger were taken into custody. The operator was identified as a 37-year-old Milwaukee man who had two previous warrants.
The 35-year-old male passenger was ultimately released without charges. Law enforcement say no citizens or deputies were injured during the pursuit, but one squad car was damaged.
