Fitzgerald, Zahn Discuss Issues On WBEV’s Community Comment

(Juneau) The candidates for State Senate District 13 discussed the issues with us this month on WBEV’s Community Comment. The two agree on very little, from education to healthcare to the planned Foxconn development in Racine County. Democrat Michelle Zahn of rural Juneau says Foxconn is a big mistake. She says the deal is costing at least $2000 for every man, woman and child in the state, money she says could be better spent elsewhere. Zahn says there will be very few big paying, high-skill jobs being offered and any profits will all be going to Taiwan. Incumbent Republican Scott Fitzgerald of rural Juneau emphasizes that Foxconn will see no tax credits until jobs are created. He calls Foxconn a destination employer offering cutting-edge jobs. Fitzgerald says the state is going to see people from Chicago, Minneapolis and Silicon Valley relocate to Wisconsin because they want to be part of this type of industry.
