Wrong-Way Fatal Accident

(Elba) A vehicle driving the wrong way on Highway 151 near to the township of Elba resulted in a fatality. Dodge County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the northbound lanes of 151 near Highway 73 shortly after 11pm Friday.  

The preliminary investigation shows that a Toyota Rav4 was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it collided with a Toyota Corolla that was heading north. After the collision, the Rav4 rolled several times.  

Authorities say the operator of the Rav4, a 22-year-old Beaver Dam woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were two passengers in the vehicle, both 17-year-old females who sustained serious injuries. They were transported via EMS to area hospitals.  

The driver and sole occupant of the Corolla, a 37-year-old woman from Fond du Lac, received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital in Columbus. The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.   

Assisting at the scene was the Dodge County Emergency Response Team, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department, the Fall River Police Department, the Columbia County Highway Department, the Columbus Fire Department, Lifestar EMS, and the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
