Estimated Meta Tax Benefit to Beaver Dam Doubles

(BEAVER DAM) The City of Beaver Dam’s latest assessment shows the Meta AI data center will be paying a lot more in city taxes than first projected. The initial estimate was $10 million a year. But Mayor Bobbi Marck told Daily Dodge a more recent assessment shows that amount will be closer to $20 million a year.

“Just to put that in perspective, our city operating budget for last year was $24 million. So, this one taxpaying entity will be providing 80% of our current budget. That’s now significant this project is.”

Beaver Dam contracts with Accurate Assessors to handle its property valuations. Marck says Meta is paying property taxes to the tax incremental finance district in the meantime. It would start paying into the city’s general fund when the TID expires in 20 years.
