(Osh Kosh) A plane containing two people crashed into a field on a farm roughly two miles south of EAA Airventure Oshkosh on Monday. Neither occupant survived as the plane was engulfed in flames by the time first responders arrived at the crash site.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office reported the plane crashed into a field in the Town of Nekimi, just south of Oshkosh. EAA Director of Communications Dick Knapinski told USA Today the aircraft was a private airplane arriving to the event, and not affiliated with EAA Airventure Oshkosh itself. It’s still unclear what caused the plane to crash and the victims have not been identified, the crash remains an open investigation at this time.
