(Beaver Dam) With snow in the forecast for today, local authorities are reminding motorists to drive safely when winter weather hits. This type of weather cannot only cause accidents if not careful, but also secondary accidents. Beaver Dam Police Lieutenant Jeremiah Johnson says the chances of a secondary accident happen when it is snowing and slippery.
“Think about it,” says Johnson. “If you were driving on the freeway and it’s snowing and you start slamming on the breaks, you could spin out. It’s part of the deal. So make sure you’re adjusting your speed always when you’re driving down the freeway. It’s just something that’s safe.”
Johnson says it is important to slow down as soon as possible when red and blue lights are seen and move over to the lane opposite where they are sitting.
